Added a very simple 3D character made in 3ds max, but haven’t textured it yet (near the right). Not sure if I should keep the 3D character, as it makes the whole thing run a lot slower. And currently it doesn’t fit with the rest of my images, but maybe it’ll improve once I texture it… Keep the 3D, and get rid of something else to improve speed? I still need to add many versions of the character and also add swans to this scene. Also added intro animation (the ground folds down, and the objects pop up). Or alternative solution: model the character using Papervision primitives, texture it using BitmapAssetMaterial, and just include the crown from 3ds max with Collada - this might be the fastest solution.

wild swans The progress and development of my MFA thesis: an interactive Flash augmented reality work inspired by the fairy tale The Wild Swans by Hans Christian Andersen.

This interactive augmented-reality piece will explore the story of The Wild Swans by Hans Christian Andersen from a personal perspective. Interaction in the form of page flips will trigger the next scene. Text will visually describe the narrative. The piece will be created in Flash, and its final form will be an installation. The interactive installation will focus on creating an experience in which it appears as if a book has come to life.
